Today was hot in Lot-et-Garonne; 37 degrees. After breakfast of baguette with butter and jam, James went for a walk to Allemans du Dropt and Jennifer and I headed to the pool where we swam, read our books and chatted.
In the evening we went back to Allemans where the whole village was watching the France v Spain semi-final on a giant screen in the colonnaded village square. There were also food stalls and bars open for the Bastille Day celebrations. Unfortunately for the spectators France lost the match, so their celebrations were rather curtailed; the planned fireworks had already been cancelled because of the current fire risk due to the hot weather. Someone started playing Viva Espana on the big screen and someone else immediately unplugged it!
We went back to the house and went for a late night swim in the pool. We floated around looking at all of the stars in the clear sky. We saw the Milky Way, lots of constellations, and Star-links shooting across the sky. It was magical.
