Swimming at Gairloch

Jennifer and Russell have arrived in Ullapool to spend a few days with us. It’s great to see them. It was also great to see Alison and Hugh who came for lunch yesterday. They arrived in Hugh’s fabulous new car. I’m not at all knowledgable about cars but even I could see that this one was very special; the design was so sleek and elegant, in a gorgeous metallic black. While we were looking at the car, the postman came past and complimented Hugh on it, as did one of our neighbours later. It’s a beauty.
Jennifer and Russell arrived in the afternoon and the six of us had coffee, they have all met before at our party and were soon chatting like old friends.
Today Russ fancied trying out the wee golf course at Gairloch, which had been recommended to him by a friend. So we set off to Gairloch, it was a lovely day for a drive, warm and sunny with not a cloud in the sky. Russ got started on his game of golf while Jenn and I had a coffee sitting outside the club house before heading down to the beach just below the golf course. Wow! It was spectacular! Pale yellow sand leading down to a turquoise sea. We had a lovely swim together and were in the water for ages. Russ phoned us when he was finished his game and treated us to a late lunch back at the club house. Back at the cottage we had ice lollies in the sunshine and I made a warm smoked trout salad for tea, followed by a convivial evening.
It was a fantastic day.
